Let’s talk about stats and skills for this game conversion. The RPG has 6 different base stats that determine how good you are at skills.
Here’s a sample character from the Age of Rebellion Game:
Each skill is tied to a characteristic, this gives you a baseline for skills. Characters with high brawn have more health and are initially better at skills like brawling, etc.
Skyrim also has some skills, 18 actually. Less than the RPG but I’m sure we can work some magic. Here they are below for reference:
First let’s try and assign a base characteristic to each skill. Since there are 6 characteristics and 3 skill types (Combat, magic, stealth) let’s try and split them evenly.
Brawn and Agility seem like physical/combat oriented characteristics. Let’s try this:
I like how this is starting out. We have 2 physical characteristics and evenly distributed them between the combat skills. Let’s keep it up!
Cunning and Presence seem to stand out as stealth related skills, let’s go there next.
Alchemy Light Armor
This doesn’t feel quite right. I’m going to rename presence to dexterity and try again.
It’s not perfect but that simple change made everything a bit more clear.
Moving onto magic. Willpower and Intellect are the final 2.
Let me explain this a little more since I feel it’s less straightforward. With willpower you manipulate the body (restoration), soul (conjuration), or matter (alteration). Where manipulating elements (Destruction), mind (illusion), and artifacts (enchanting) seem more like intellect.
All in all I like where we’re headed. We have split out our skills and characteristics very nicely and we can move onto Magicka and Stamina.
